  • Locks up even if you forget to, Smart home device integration, August Home app is solid
  • Lacks a normal keyhole, Needs 4 AA batteries to operate
  • The Yale Assure Lock relies on your memory and phone to unlock, lacking a normal keyhole. If that isn’t your cup of tea, this lock isn’t for you. However, its hands-free design, smart home integration, and solid August app would argue otherwise. Sure, it...

  • Yale Assure SL is sleek and low-profile. It comes in three finishes and can be upgraded to work with most smart home platforms
  • In order to upgrade to the smart home platform, you must purchase a $50 network module
  • Yale's slimmed down touchscreen deadbolt looks much better than previous models, but doesn't introduce any truly new features...

  • With no place to put a key, the Yale Assure smart lock effectively eliminates the threat of someone breaking in using a lockpick or a bump key
  • The Assure trots out the same, stale design we've seen from Yale for years now, and makes you pay extra to add in Z-Wave, ZigBee or Apple HomeKit compatibility. Yale's app charges you $2 a digital key after the first five, and won't let you lock the door
