  • The WD My Cloud EX4 offers data redundancy, Windows Server integration, and an excellent set of personal cloud features. It's also affordable and very easy to use
  • The server's write speed is disappointing. The mobile app supports a limited number of file formats, there's no search function, and it won't allow you to sort by content type
  • It's not the fastest NAS, nor does it include many advanced features, but the WD My Cloud EX4 still combines great ease of use into an affordable personal cloud system that's excellent for a connected home.

  • Very slow read/write performance, No provision for folder syncing, No locks on drive trays
  • The My Cloud EX4 has all the features you want in a four-bay NAS and is priced right, provided that you accept its performance deficiencies....

  • When it comes to power consumption the WD My Cloud EX4 8TB isn't too bad. We found that it uses around 15 Watts at idle when power saver mode is enabled. When the drives come out of their low power state they spike up to ~50 Watts during the few seconds i...

  • Well built Lots of storage options Ultrareliable Quiet Easy to get going
  • Very few apps available Mobile access could be better Average speeds Flaky software
  • Disappointingly, the use of the 'Cloud' buzzword on WD's My Cloud EX4 is a bit of a misnomer. Yes, it lets you access your files from afar, but you're going through WD's own servers - so it's technically their cloud and not yours. It's also not all that d...
