  • Fantastic picture quality and contrast ratio, excellent support service,
  • Very expensive; image isn’t as bright as some other highend models, very large and heavy.
  • If you want one of the best units on our list, and are not afraid to shell out the cash, this is the unit for you....

  • The Sony VPL-HW15 is quite keenly priced for a 1080p projector, so in the world of projectors, it’s relatively entry-level. However, it produces such excellent image quality it really is worth a second look. The only off-putting thing is its large size,...

  • Abstract:  Deep blacks , Accurate color , Superb image depth Sony’s new BRAVIA VPL-HW15 is a reworking of last year’s VPL-HW10. At a modest $3,000 (modest as projectors go, that is), the VPL-HW15 offers a useful lineup of features and a picture that I didn’t exp...

  • Abstract:  With a better remote control, better color temperature, brightness and energy consumption of just 0.1 W in standby. These are just some of the reasons to prefer the VPL-HW15 to its predecessor, the VPL-HW10. As a downside, it doesn't have..

  • Abstract:  It’s typical of Sony to shun the accepted wisdom of LCD and DLP projection and come up with its own – admittedly more expensive – technology. The good news is that its latest wave of sublime SXRD projectors pushes the picture quality to the next level...

  • Sonys new HW15 is their lowest-priced 1080p projector yet released. Despite the price, Sony has made few compromises regarding image quality and feature set. The HW15 improves upon the HW10 in several ways. It brings the best features of LCOS, like a...

  • Newer is better! The VPL-HW15 is better, and $500 less than the older HW10. Don't expect a dramatic improvement, but overall, you do get a little more, for about 15% less dollarsSkin tones are extremely good, bested only by a couple of projectors (the InF...

  • Some of the best blacks and contrast levels going. Great picture quality out of the box. Straightforward set-up
  • Lacks some positioning flexibility. Pricier than a lot of the competition. Relatively expensive to run
  • The Sony VPLHW15 may cost you more than a budget 1080p, but the images it presents make it well worth the money....

  • Rather than standard DLP or LCD technology, the Sony VPL-HW15 creates its image using Sony’s own SXRD tech – and what a beautiful image it is. Its deep, dark black levels and blazingly bright whites combine to deliver a huge contrast range, and the stuff in between is rich with colour detail. Colour reproduction is more muted than some rivals, being warm and realistic rather than lurid and bold –
  • The Sony VPL-HW15 might be a technological marvel, but all that advanced gadgetry comes at a high price – a wallet-friendly projector this is not. It’d also benefit from a slightly brighter bulb to improve daytime picture performance. Other than that, it’s difficult to pick out a single subpar aspect.
  • It isn’t cheap, but the Sony VPL-HW15 is the sort of projector that’s both easy to live with and capable of transforming your home entertainment experience forever. A top performer in its class. Sony VPL-HW15 is tagged with Sony and projector. Select a...

  • Superbly sharp pictures; motion is handled very well; attractive design; good range of connections and features; runs quietly
  • Dynamic iris can be overly aggressive; some settings can cause video noise; colours could be richer
  • With its fast response time and ability to deliver exceptionally fine detail, Sony's latest SXRD projector, the Bravia VPL-HW15, provides a truly spectacular way to watch the World Cup -- or anything else for that matter ...
