  • Abstract:  The Sony NEXC3KB is described as an Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera, what a lot of people would call a DSLR, it is small and easy to use but still has most of the ability you would expect from a DSLR unit, meaning excellent images....

  • Abstract:  Compact System Cameras are getting even smaller! Sonys latest model, the NEX-C3, claims to be the smallest to come with an APS-C sized sensor chip. Simplicity is often the most desired asset when buying a new camera. This is why it makes so much sen...

  • Small body size (though supplied lens adds bulk); useful tilting screen; builtin digital effects filters are fun and easy to use,
  • As expensive as an entrylevel SLR; no builtin flash,
  • Better resolution and battery life than its NEX-3 predecessor, but more of a consolidation than a massive leap forward ...

  • Solid feel build, slender body design finds room for handgrip, better 400-shot battery life than predecessor, fun and easily selectable digital effects filters, jack-of-all-trades 18-55mm kit zoom supplied in test bundle
  • Flash is clip-on rather than built-in, ‘improved' user interface could do with being less esoteric still, video isn't Full HD, screen flexibility could be further improved
  • OK, so not a great deal has changed between the NEX-3 and the NEX-C3, expect for the addition of that ‘C’, a couple of million extra pixels, some fun digital effects, plus the ability to squeeze slightly more shots out of a battery charge. That’s not t...

  • DSLR-like image quality, Small and portable, Stylish design
  • Menu navigation still fiddly, 720p movie mode lags behind rivals, 18-55mm kit lens unbalances overall package somewhat
  • Overall image quality is very good. While the NEX-C3 offers compact camera proportions, the benefits of the larger APS-C sensor are clear to see. Using the ‘Standard' colour profile setting JPEG images are natural and lifelike straight from the camera. Of...

  • Slimline body, Solid feel, Battery life
  • Zoom lens, Over large bulk from Zoom, Not too fast
  • Sony clearly decided that it didn’t want to throw the baby out with the bathwater when moving up from the NEX-3 to NEX-C3, so existing owners should not feel a compulsion to upgrade. However, for newly interested parties there’s the appeal of a couple

  • Abstract:  While it may have a lot in common with its predecessor (the NEX-3), the mirrorless NEX-C3 brings a few extras to the table, not least its fancy new 16.2MP Exmor CMOS sensor. The NEX-C3 also sports a slimmed down body, better battery life and a range of ot...
