  • Abstract:  3DSPoor Sonic, as a cultural icon he's been struggling lately. As the 21st century reared its head with its iPod headphones in its ears and hood done up, he quickly became the embodiment of a 90's throwback, suffering from a chronic case of wretched im...

  • Abstract:  Full disclosure: before playing Sonic Generations (3DS) for review, I had never finished a Sonic game. I bought all the collections and rented or bought used copies of all the Wii titles because I love the series in theory. Sadly, in practice, the ga...

  • Abstract:  Sonic has seen some ups and downs in his life. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, as well as Sonic and Knuckles, experienced a lot of success and are beloved by most who play them. Recently, Sonic has hit a bit of a slump with games like Sonic and the Secret Rings ...

  • Abstract:  Sonic the Hedgehog - you know him, you love him. Now you can catch him in all his glory on the Nintendo 3DS in Sonic Generations. Sonic, like Mario, has held strong through the years, drawing new generations of gamers into its fold. Racing that littl...

  • Abstract:  Sonic the Hedgehog has had several tweaks to its formula over the years, going from being a 2D platformer to 3D and even making detours into completely different genres. Sonic Generations is primarily about the 2D style of play, but does make use 3D le...

  • Whereas the console version of Sonic Generations is a blending of old and new mentality in a fast-paced speed fest, the 3DS version is mostly just a Sonic Rush game where both playable characters happen to be Sonic. Fun platforming and nostalgia are al...

  • Abstract:  So I definitely enjoyed SEGA’s latest attempt to put out a Sonic game that appealed to both old-school fans and the newer audience. Sonic Generations managed to combine both worlds quite well, and while I’m certainly a bigger fan of Sonic’s Sega Genesi...

  • Abstract:  This game is at its best when it sticks to its old-school intentions. For the most part, it does that. Sonic Generations features two iterations of the fast-running hero, both the modern-day one and the “classic” one we grew up with way back in 199...

  • Both classic and modern levels look good, there are 100 missions you can unlock, online and offline versus multiplayer, you can update a profile card, can exchange StreetPass information and there’s a time attack mode. The 3D effects are really nice in the bonus levels.
  • There are only two levels per area. Sometime the homing attack can be a bit of an annoyance when you don’t mean to trigger it. The main story mode is rather short.

  • Abstract:  While gamers on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC have had their piece of the Sonic 20th anniversary pie earlier this month, 3DS owners have had to wait for Sonic Generations to be released on their platform. The back of the box promises a big advent...
