  • Solid Blu-ray playback, A wide selection of Web apps and streaming services,
  • Slow to start up and load discs, Mediocre DVD-upconversion performance, No integrated Wi-Fi,
  • The Samsung BD-D5500 is a capable, full-featured Blu-ray player, but its slow startup time and only-so-so DVD upconversion skills hold it back. ...

  • Abstract:  Features For such a low price, the BD-D5500 offers a surprising number of features aside from the ability to play 2D and 3D Blu-rays as well as DVDs and CDs. Its implementation of Samsung's Smart TV online app engine is excellent, with access to content f...

  • Despite being in the lowest range of Samsung blu-ray players, the BD-D5500 captivates users with its cinematic quality of 3D and 2D videos. You will have it set up easily and running perfectly in no time at all and can start streaming content wirelessl...

  • As we said in the beginning of this article, we chooser the BD-D5500 also for its small price. We'd say that this blu-ray player is a good choice if you really want something cheap but which includes 3D, otherwise, the BD-D5700 would be a far better choi...

  • At a cost of around £100 the Samsung BD-D5500 is an attractively-priced Blu-ray player that offers all the basic features one would need. Those being top quality playback and Smart TV access. Blu-ray films look great. For an entry-level system, colours are bright and clear, and dark levels are commendable, and worth the entry free. It’ll even play back those 3D releases. The BD-D5500 also offers
  • Unfortunately there’s no Wi-fi. To access those Smart TV services you’ll need to use the ethernet port - a real bother if you aren’t close to a socket. The BD-D5500 does support Wi-Fi, but you’ll need to purchase a dongle sold separately.
  • The Samsung BD-D5500 is more than decent. For a low price you’d be getting a perfectly capable Blu-ray player. The lack of built-in Wi-Fi however is a real kicker. Shop around before committing. Samsung BD-D5500 is tagged with Samsung, BD-D5500, Blu-R...

  • Lots of features, Terrific pictures, Smart Hub web content
  • No built-in Wi-Fi, Underwhelming build quality, Lacklustre design
  • Those shopping for a Blu-ray player on a tight budget would do well to investigate the Samsung BD-D5500. Its feature list is excellent for the money, offering media streaming, Smart Hub and 3D compatibility, and pictures are solid, although the lack o

  • Picture quality, Smart Hub, DLNA and 3D support, Two USB ports
  • Not as well-built or attractive as other Samsung players, No built-in Wi-Fi, No 2D-to-3D conversion
  • With Smart Hub, DLNA streaming and 3D support on board, the Samsung BD-D5500 represents excellent value for money for under £100. It also welcomes a wide range of digital media formats, boasts two USB ports and a first-rate operating system. There's no bu...
