It looks sumptuous, the My Home Screen interface makes using the set's Smart TV services easy, and bright images look terrific.
There aren't enough video streaming services, and even the application of a local dimming engine can't stop the set's handling of dark scenes feeling clumsy
The L55DT65 is a marked improvement over last year's DT series, thanks to some excellent bright picture handling and a superb user interface. It's a shame it struggles more than we'd like it to when the going gets dark, though....

Panasonic has worked its magic on the TX-L42DT65B to make the best of an IPS LCD panel whose strengths (wide viewing angles, no motion smearing) and weakness (less-than-impressive blacks) are common knowledge. Video processing for standard definition and ...
Native contrast performance isn't great, Adaptive Backlight Control lacks finesse, Fewer video streaming services than rivals

Aesthetically a winner, Panasonic's new personalised My Home Screen user interface is good, twin tuners are a game-changer
IPTV is let down by lack of catch-up services, voice interaction never really gets beyond novelty status, panel doesn't quite reach the premiere league in terms of picture quality, black levels

Quad tuners, iOS and Android apps, 24p Smooth Film, Smart TV navigation, SD upscaling
Only three HDMI inputs, Unreliable voice interaction, Freesat/Freeview not separated, Audio lacks bass
Killer smart TV and second screen apps flow from Panasonic's smallest top quality LED TV for 2013. The Panasonic TX-L42DT65B's second screen features are more ambitious than Samsung's, and use better apps that are equally kind to both iOS and Android use...

Impressively accurate colours, Smashing design, My Home Screen is great, Oodles of Smart features, Generous viewing angles, 3D is excellent, Viera Remote App 2 works extremely well, Good in a bright room
Contrast isn't very strong in more ideal viewing environments, Some stuttering with motion occasionally, Only 3 HDMI inputs, Not really any better than the ET60 for picture quality
