  • Supports lossless formats, Great-sounding headphone out, May be used as standalone DAC with a PC
  • Rudimentary touchscreen DAC use limited to 96-kHz or lesser files
  • The AK100 successfully ventures beyond the iTunes universe to open a world of high-resolution portable playback....

  • Stunning sound quality, Extensive file versatility, Premium grade components
  • Slightly sluggish UI, Some quirks in function, Expensive
  • There's no question that the AK100 sounds absolutely incredible. We were most impressed by its performance when playing back high-resolution tracks, but we also enjoyed the improvement of other formats through the player's premium components. As for gen...

  • Incredible audio quality with the right material.
  • Extremely expensive. No AAC or Apple Lossless support. Buggy. Mastering-quality files are expensive, take up a lot of storage space, and aren't widely available. No headphones or AC adapter included
  • Audiophiles with the means should take a close look at the Iriver Astell & Kern AK100, a high-end media player that delivers exceptional sound quality with the right music files, but it comes with plenty of compromises....

  • Hi-res music sounds awesome, Warm, rich delivery, Lovely build, Expandable storage
  • Volume knob can be inconvenient, More built-in storage would be nice, Mighty, mighty pricey
  • Astell&Kern AK100 Mk.2 verdict Open Gallery We have mixed feelings about the Astell & Kern AK100 MkII. That price is a real issue, considering how little memory you get out of the box. It could also be a little slicker, both in operation and in d...
