  • Despite my praise, I can admit that Dear Esther is not for everyone. Coming in at $10 on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace it certainly isn't expensive, but you would probably only play it once and forget it exists on your console. This game is f...

  • Best depiction of the Scottish coast ever created, Interesting narrative and depiction of an unstable mind, Mesmerizing, hypnotic gameplay that has you wandering the island with inward thoughts, Varied enough to encourage a replay or two
  • Slow movement, Genre is not for everyone, Need blanket to play
  • A beautiful early example of the narrative driven 'walking simulator' brought to life with stunning graphics and the same intriguingly muddled narrative as its become famous for...

  • An interesting tale but a very forgettable experience. Dear Esther is not nearly engaging enough to sustain itself amongst other titles in its genre. The monotonous gameplay and bleak atmosphere can...

  • Abstract:  Dear Esther: Landmark Edition is a remake of a remake of a Half-Life 2 mod. It is a walking simulator. The first so-called walking simulator, actually. When it came out as that humble mod in 2008, it unknowingly became the granddaddy of story-first video...

  • Unique and haunting setting, Fantastic voice work, Looks beautiful
  • Won't be for everyone, Occasionally a bit pretentious
  • Now the game's on PS4, it risks being slightly misunderstood by a mass audience. It's always been an acquired taste, but it's universally mesmerising. As one of the first of its kind – the genre of walking sims that swap fast action for patient thoughtful...
