  • Affordably priced, Easy to install, Supports Multi-User Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) streaming, Four LAN ports
  • Lacks USB ports, Middling MU-MIMO throughput
  • The D-Link AC1900 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router (DIR-878) brings dual-band Wi-Fi at an affordable price. It lacks USB connectivity, and MU-MIMO performance could be better, but it's easy to install and offers plenty of management settings...

  • Abstract:  As the cost of network hardware continues to tumble, fast ways of getting online around the home needn't break the bank. Announced at CES 2016, D-Link 's DIR-879 AC1900 EXO WiFi Router promises a noticeable upgrade from your cable company's default hardwa...

  • Sleek design, Four wired LAN ports, Good selection of management options, Solid close-range throughput in our tests,
  • No USB ports, Middling long-range throughput in testing
  • The D-Link AC1900 EXO Wi-Fi Router (DIR-879) is a neat-looking dual-band 802.11ac router that delivered solid throughput scores in our tests. It is equipped with four LAN ports and offers plenty of settings, but lacks USB connectivity...

  • Easy to set up, great coverage, quite a few configuration options. Can use in extender mode as well
  • Some might not like the bright color depending on where they're placing it
  • If you're looking for a fairly affordable router that's easy to set up and provides great coverage for your home, you really can't go wrong with the D-Link AC1900 EXO Wi-Fi Router. The easy set up, coverage and speed is why it earned a spot as one of our...

  • The D-Link DIR-879 is fast, looks cool and at $140, is pretty affordable
  • The web-based user interface lacks some customization features. You must manually update the router's firmware before it works as intended
  • Though not perfect, the DIR-879 is a well-performing router that fits most homes' needs and budget...

  • High routing throughput
  • Not that much cheaper than other AC1900 routers, No USB storage features
  • AC1900 class routers have definitely matured as a class and prices have come down enough that the DIR-879 isn't the bargain it was intended to be when it was introduced only five short months ago. For about the same or less, you can buy a Linksys EA6900...

  • Solid performance, Easy interface
  • Limited feature-set, Low port forwarding total
  • It's by no means a bad product; there are just better value offerings that do a whole lot more

  • "There's no denying this is an eye-catching, easy to setup router with decent specs, and yet you can buy something else without that bright orange chassis for a solid $100 less."...

  • Whether we're talking aesthetics or utility and performance of it, the DIR-879 is a product that resonates. A good router doesn't need to check all that many boxes but a great one goes above and beyond them. The DIR-879 is packing value in every sharp ang...
