  • Excellent sound quality, Discrete AMPs per channel for Headphones, SABRE32 DAC, 1Ω to 600Ω support, RGB support
  • Price could be prohibitive to some, Scout features are a bit gimmicky and not recommended
  • How can you define an experience which changes the way you look at an integral part of your interaction with the content you consume. Whether it be games, media, music, etc.For the longest time I thought motherboard audio was good enough. For some it may...

  • Installation is quick and easy, Aurora Reactive LED lighting adds an additional flair, LED lighting is optional, Discrete headphone amp provides really great audio, Difference between on-board and discrete audio is really impressive
  • Software had some issues, LED lighting isn't going to be for everybody, Audio improvement will depend on headphones or speakers that you're using
  • Discrete audio isn't going to be for everybody. Many are perfectly happy with what integrated onboard audio can do for them. If you're looking for an easy way to make an immediate difference in the audio your computer can put out, the Sound BlasterX AE-5...

  • I was very impressed with the overall performance and features of the Sound BlasterX AE-5. Not to mention, it looks great in a system and lit up. Not just the sound card either. The four RGB strips that come with the Pure Edition of the AE-5, is a great f...

  • Class leading sound quality, Outstanding built in DAC, Built in dual channel Xamp, Easy to use software controls, Expandable RGB lighting
  • Molex connection required for light strips to function, Weird location for the RGB Led light plug, No pass throughs, Can't hardware upgrade,
  • It may have taken Creative 5 years to put out the AE-5 but the results show they have been busy. Moving from onboard sound to a good external Amp/DAC used to be the only option to get a true audiophile experience from your PC. Thanks to the AE-5 we now ha...

  • Wonderful Sound Reproduction, ESS Sabre DAC, Clean Xamp Headphone Amplifier, Great Virtual Surround Sound, Aurora Reactive RGB Lighting, HD Audio Header
  • RGB LED Strip Header Placement, Pricey
  • Creative Labs makes a great argument for upgrading to a discrete sound card with the Sound BlasterX AE-5. The Xamp headphone amplifier's discrete amplification circuit really brings headphones to life. It's virtual 7.1 produces convincing positional audio...

  • Abstract:  For years, sound card manufacturers have really only had to be concerned with one of the five senses. And for years, they've done a pretty good job, presenting richer, fuller sounds in our games, music, movies, and everything else that we need to hear. As...

  • Requires Molex power cable
  • We have spent a fair while with the AE-5, testing out each aspect in our every-day system to really get to grips with what it can do. Early on, we did encounter some hiccups regarding the functionality of the software, something not uncommon with older so...
