  • Abstract:  A standard video game used to mean that it would offer some gameplay or storyline mode, with the addition of at most a multiplayer option. These days, developers are relying on the extra content and extra modes of gameplay to increase their game’s shel...

  • Abstract:  Most people don't seem to have a problem with purchasing downloadable content. Sure, it seems strange to put additional money into a game after plunking down $60 on a new title, but developers are usually good at making the content feel unique, instead...

  • Unless you have a core group of three other friends and all of you have maxed out level 50 characters, I wouldn't recommend Borderlands: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot to you. It isn't balanced properly and, since there is no normal XP awards or l...

  • Two skill points are a juicy reward, Lots of tough, relentless combat
  • Lots of tough, repetitive combat, No experience or weapon proficiency gains, Limited number of environments, Small bug affects loot drop visibility
  • Underdome Riot is heavy on challenge and light on rewards. Only diehard teams of maxed-out mercs need apply. ...

  • Abstract:  It’s good to see that the Borderlands DLC packs aren’t immediately falling into the trap of being more of the same, as Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot is a very different experience from Zombie Island of Dr. Ned. This time around your $10 buys you access to...

  • Stylish arenas, superdifficult tournaments, weapon loots, hours of cooperative play.
  • No storyline, no experience, often unimpressive weapon drops, too difficult to conquer solo.

  • Stylish arenas, super-difficult tournaments, weapon loots, hours of co-operative play
  • No storyline, no experience, often unimpressive weapon drops, too difficult to conquer solo
  • Gearbox's second DLC content update for Borderlands is all about action: featuring the Underdome, a riotous arena where death and mayhem rule, it's a worthy download that brings a Gears of War Horde mode like experience to the world of Pandora. Unfortunat...

  • Adds a horde/firefight mode to Borderlands. Brings plenty of challenge to the game for people already at level 50. Adds a lot of hours of gameplay. Extra skill point is always a nice thing to have.
  • Removes almost every "fun" element from Borderlands. No experience gain. No new weapon drops. Difficulty level is so high it makes it a frustratingly impossible mess. No charm or good sense of humour.

  • Abstract:  Gearbox could give a keynote address at this years' Game Developers Conference on both what to do and what not to do in downloadable content packs. That's because they now have a good example of each. The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned (the first DLC for Bor...
