  • Supports 4K, 8K and VR video editing, Advanced post-production color grading tools, Fast 'Metal' render engine
  • Mac only, UI and magnetic timeline is divisive, Will not support legacy file formats starting this fall
  • A speedy, user-friendly bite of the Apple. The recent 10.4 update and long anticipated inclusion of color grading and color correction to Final Cut Pro X has cemented FCPX as a powerful and professional-level video editor. Whether you work nine to five as...

  • Several small innovations in workflow and organization make it a delight to use once you adapt to it, High-quality effects, transitions, and titles, Not sold as a subscription; you buy it, you own it, P3 wide color gamut (Rec. 2020) support, Great importe
  • Unusual approach to timeline editing will turn off many experienced users, Lacks competitive professional color grading tools, Team collaboration tools don't quite match those of competitors, Need additional software (Apple Compressor) or the full range o
  • The Mac-exclusive Final Cut Pro X is the very definition of a “prosumer video” editing program—descended from a much more expensive professional tool, it attempts to bridge the gap or hit a sweet spot between consumers who want something powerful but easy...

  • Automatic LUT application to log footage, Innovative and intuitive control additions to color control
  • Need for third party hardware to monitor HDR
  • Apple made some great improvements and its value can't be beat. Offering these updates free to users that already own Final Cut Pro X is the right thing to do. For those that don't own it, 300 bucks aint bad...

  • Versatile video editor, Works very fluidly, Feature rich
  • Starting to feel dated, Hasn't been properly updated in years, Mac only
  • There's always been rumblings that Apple could be losing interest in its pro market (remember Shake, anyone?), and the lack of a major update for over 30 months could be cause for concern. However, FCPX 10.4.8 is still an incredibly powerful and versatile...

  • Intuitive layout, Temporary 90-day trial period, Blisteringly fast rendering
  • Expensive one-off payment, Some unnecessary pro-grade tools, Titles and Graphics presets are dated
  • Although initially daunting for beginners, it packs a huge punch with a feast of features that works right up to the highest professional level users demand of it. It has an intuitive layout that's quick to pick up...

  • Easier than ever before, Extraordinarily powerful, 4K, HDR and 360-degree video
  • Probably overkill for casual users
  • Final Cut Pro is to iMovie what Logic Pro is to Garageband: an extraordinarily powerful app for pros hidden behind a familiar interface. It's the best version yet...

  • Support for 360-degree VR footage, LUT and HDR support, Improved color correction tools, Seamless support for iOS iMovie projects
  • Still incomplete audio tools, No collaboration capabilities, Longstanding glitches still not fixed
  • FCPX 10.4 will appease worried users, and shows that Apple is still strongly committed to the professional video editing market. The new additions in this major update build on an already impressive list of features, and pros of all levels will find somet...
