  • Abstract:  Since we last took a look at their Athlon 64 FX-53 back in March, AMD has remained relatively quiet. There was a low profile release of the mid-range Athlon 64 2800+ into the channel, but nothing really new has come from CPU lines at AMD for almost 3 mont...

  • Slightly Higher Performance Relative to Socket 940, DualChannel PC3200 DDR, No More Registered DDR
  • Expensive
  • Throughout the review and benchmarking process, one thought kept coming to the fore: Socket 939 is where the Athlon 64 belongs. The flexibility of standard DDR and the power of an integrated dual-channel memory controller make for a potent combination...

  • The future is bright for the AMD Athlon FX53 and Athlon 64 platforms. In the near future we will likely see motherboard manufacturers include PCI-Express in the 939 platform, making this the way to go if you want to go down the AMD route in CPUs. Of co...

  • When it comes to upgrades, I generally use the rule of 10. If a new product offers at least a 10% increase in performance, then it is worthy of being a replacement for the old components. The number 10 comes into play because as a general rule, you wil...

  • Abstract:  The FX-53 (Sledgehammer core) is 200MHz faster than its predecessor, the FX-51, pushing the clock speed envelope to 2.4GHz. The former also retains the 1MB of L2 (Level 2) cache to feed the number-crunching monster.

  • Our final evaluation includes a mixture of good and bad. Were happy that AMDs released its premier CPUs without the user having to use registered memory. Just this fact opens up top-end performance for the enthusiast with deep pockets. Stock perform...

  • Trolig markedes raskeste CPU, Støtter CoolnQuiet, Ikke lenger behov for REGminne
