The camcorder features a 12x optical zoom. The menu keys are arranged well to ensure easy use of them. The richly featured device is not cheap in terms of both price and quality.

This model targets the upper section of consumer market. The 120 GB hard drive is sufficient enough to store high resolution video recorded for about 15 hours. The Velcro strap ensures the grip and can be easily held out for videography. The touch screen is quite good in sensitivity and offers easy switching between menus. • As with most of Sony's products, you will pay a bit extra for the features, high performance and quality that one has come to expect from Sony. But the price is not that much different from the competition, so the HDR-SR12 is still a good value for the...

  • Sony raised the roof with the introduction of the Sony HDR-SR12. It offers 1080i HD video that can be recorded to a massive 120GB HDD or Memory Stick PRO Duo card. The camcorder is also built like a tank and features swanky architectural goodies like...

  • Although the Sony Handycam HDR-SR12 is a very good HD camcorder, it costs far more than HD camcorders that deliver similar quality and features. The key question for potential buyers is whether massive storage capacity and great-quality video hold jus...

  • Excellent AVCHD video quality got better this time around. Extrawide 3.2inch touchscreen LCD is a big bonus. Outstanding sound quality
  • Massive internal hard drive makes it somewhat chunky and a bit of a load to carry. The Easy button should be bigger and easier to find. And it should be red. Yeah, red and all glowy

  • Good image quality, High data storage capacity and flexibility, Nice LCD touchscreen display
  • Menus not always intuitive, Tends to roll on the palm, No manual shutter speed or gain control
  • A very nice consumer camera. Worth the price. Greg Robinson is the owner of an independent production company. Sony Electronics, Inc. 16530 Via Esprillo, MZ 7104 San Diego, CA 92127

  • Takes beautiful HD video outdoors, Best camcorder stills yet, Incredible storage
  • Expensive, Falls down in very low light, Clunky menu system for key features (LCD brightness, for example), Eats batteries, *
  • The Sony Handycam HDR-SR12 is a slightly mixed bag with the ledger heavily weighted to the positive. Full HD 1920 x 1080I videos taken outdoors were terrific and they’re solid indoors when there’s enough light. Try shooting in very dim ro...

  • The HDR-SR12E exudes quality. It has Sony's characteristically solid build and is packed with clever design features. We still love Canon's HF10 for its smaller size, lower price and use of convenient flash memory. It also has a few more manual settings t...

  • Abstract:  here is that neither had a strong lead over the other. In a broad comparison between the HDR-SR12 and competing HD camcorders, here’s the scoop. No AVCHD camcorder can match the 120GB capacity. The JVC GZ-HD6 is equipped with a 120GB HDD, but it use...
