  • Easy-to-use interface; time-saving features; multiple conversion options; batch support; includes disc labeling software; TiVo support.
  • May not be worth it to those familiar with freeware products.
  • Popcorn 3 is a solid upgrade to an already useful application for Mac movie enthusiasts looking to get the most out of their video entertainment. TivoToGo support, EyeTV and H.264 Turbo support, batch features, and Director’s Cut capabilities on...

  • Batch conversion
  • Released too early; for Mac only
  • With Popcorn 3 (for the Mac), users can transfer their videos to DVDs and such popular portable devices as the iPhone, iPod, Apple TV, BlackBerry—even the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It also provides TiVoToGo support so you can transfer TV shows...

  • Exports video to many preconfigured device formats. Batch export runs several tasks in succession. Optional Turbo.264 accelerator ($100) greatly speeds processing. Compresses dual-layer movie DVDs into single-layer discs.
  • Doesn’t work with copyprotected movies. No simple editing option. Cropping not possible.
  • Popcorn works well for basic video compression for a DVD, iPod, or other portable device, but it tastes more like a snack than a meal. ...

  • TiVo support, wide range of supported video input and output formats, can merge multiple DVD video folders automatically
  • Very basic features, no editing, slightly overpriced, encoding needs a fast processor and runs slowly on pre-Intel hardware Min specs: G4 or later, OS X 10.4.10 or later, Quicktime 7.1.6
  • Popcorn is good value if you want a quick and simple DVD authoring tool or a speedy way to compress your videos for iPod viewing. Ignore the DVD copying – it’s best used for your own video creations. ...

  • Abstract:  Popcorn 3 converts DVDs and movie files to an even wider range of devices than before, including Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Popcorn now makes use of Elgatos Turbo.264 encoder, if available. A welcome decision indeed, given the increasing support for ...
