  • Abstract:  The Pioneer PDP-5080HD hits the market in late summer 2007 to ready acceptance from the flat panel TV marketplace. Improvements over the previous PDP-5070HD include a dramatically improved black level and minor improvements in brightness. Other more m...

  • KURO models produce the deepest black levels in the flatpanel world, resulting in a beautifully rich, threedimensional image, The PDP4280HD does an equally good job with highdef and standarddef sources, Because it is a plasma, it doesnt suffer from moti...
  • This TV does not have a full 1920 x 1080 resolution. Its 768p image is still nicely detailed but not as sharp as youll see elsewhere, Even though its the least expensive KURO model, the PDP4280HDs asking price is still fairly high for a 768p, 42inch pane...
  • The PDP-4280HD is the most cost-effective way to add a gorgeous KURO plasma to your home entertainment system, and it boasts a ton of worthy features and connections, to boot....

  • Abstract:  The PDP-5080HD is capable of producing a beautiful image, with both HD and SD content. This is one of more affordable models in the KURO line, costing half as much as Pioneer’s step-up 50-inch 1080p model. Its price is still higher than the norm for...

  • Rich black levels live up to the KURO moniker (Japanese for black), multiple picture-enhancing technologies
  • Not true 1,080p display, pricey for a 768p set
  • The eighth-generation plasma line from Pioneer is true to the name KURO, which means black in Japanese. Not only is the 42-inch PDP-4280HD framed in a shiny black bezel, which makes for one of the most attractive sets weve seen this year, but its pic...

  • Better picture than most, great set of features
  • Outrageous price, difficult to set up
  • When the PDP-4280HDs price comes down--which should happen pretty quickly--this model will become significantly more attractive.

  • This 50-inch plasma TV displays an exceedingly deep shade of black with excellent shadow detail; clean image with little noise; "smooth" video-processing mode removes most judder; excellent antireflective screen; sleek, minimalist styling; removable sp...
  • Expensive; inaccurate primary color of green; no user-menu fine color temperature controls.
  • The Pioneer PDP-5080HD produces the deepest shade of black--and thus one of the best pictures--weve ever tested.
