  • Panasonic G30 replaces the much acclaimed G20 model from 2010 that gave buyers a remarkable value-for-money proposition. G30 comes with many of the same multimedia features such as USB recording and DLNA. But G30 has also extended the multimedia offerings...

  • Solid build, finish and ergonomics, good spec, great contrast, detailed pictures
  • THX preset is a matter of taste, needs fiddling before colours look natural

  • Excellent picture quality, Affordable for a 50in Panasonic plasma, Good multimedia features
  • Not the brightest picture, Some jaggedness with 50Hz sources, Not helpful for wall mounting
  • Surprisingly, the P50G30 isn't quite just the the P50GT30 minus 3D we'd expected it to be; it's also got a chunkier design than its 3D brother, and features a watered down Infinite Black variant versus the P50GT30's ‘Pro' version. And it doesn't have the ...

  • Great picture quality, Excellent contrast ratio: 6000:1 in THX mode, Very wide viewing angles, No Blackfloating in THX mode, Good audio quality
  • Glossy screen susceptible to reflections, Power adaptor makes annoying noise, High energy consumption: 252 W in THX mode
  • The Panasonic G30 is very similar to the GT30, except it doesn't have support for 3D. Once you're in THX mode, the picture quality is good, with accurate colour reproduction and high contrast ratios making it the ideal choice for Home Cinema fans....

  • Smooth, fluid and cinematic hi-def images, Viera Connect portal, Tidy design and solid build quality, Plenty of picture tweaks available
  • Lack of uniformity across the menus, Remote control needs revamping, Bland audio performance, Average brightness
  • High definition, smart and no 3D in sight...

  • Deep black levels and rich colour; Good Web services, including iPlayer; Effective SD upscaling; Above average sound quality
  • Poor Freeview guide; Boring design
  • The Panasonic G30 delivers great looking SD and HD pictures, comes with a good line-up of features, including BBC iPlayer, and has better sound quality than most flatscreen TVs. If you're not interested in 3D, we think it's a great buy....

  • As a mid range flat panel offering, the TX-P42G30 is hard to fault and is just about the most sensible buy for the price. If however, you watch a lot of TV in a bright environment then an upgrade to the GT30 or higher with its Infinite Black Pro screen...

  • Excellent dynamic range and contrast performance, Superb calibrated greyscale and gamut performance, Very good scaling performance of SD material, Extremely stable retention of black levels whilst displaying brighter content simultaneously, Highly resista
  • Handling of 50Hz will still be an issue for some, Fluctuating brightness will similarly cause some consternation, Ugly EPG with adverts, Extremely bland design making it look like the poor relation of some of the 3D sets, Still no effective 2:2 cadence de

  • Truth be told, after witnessing the GT30 with its Infinite Black Pro screen coating, stepping back down to the Panasonic TX-P42G30′s less light-resistant screen meant that we weren't as immediately taken by it. Unless you watch TV in total darkness (in wh...
