  • Abstract:  While LCD displays may dominate that video wall at your local Best Circuit Shack these days, don’t dismiss the benefits of plasmas. No company has put more R&D into plasma development than Panasonic, and it’s paid off. People may disagree abou...

  • Impressive contrast ratio. Excellent SD video processing.
  • Slightly oversaturated colors. Overscan with 720p video sources. No 1080p input with VGA or component video ports.
  • This latest-generation plasma TV offers upgraded video processing and significantly improved picture contrast over previous 1080p Panasonic plasmas....

  • The Panasonic TH-46PZ85U can produce one of the deepest shades of black weve ever tested; it has punchy color; a relatively effective antireflective screen; and sleek styling.
  • Poor noise reduction; less-accurate primary colors; fewer picture controls than many HDTVs.
  • A couple of issues keep its picture out of the top tier, but excellent black-level performance still makes the Panasonic TH-46PZ85U plasma HDTV stand out from the pack.

  • Abstract:  Almost second-to-none for HDTV playback in this price category, Panasonic's newest model in the 42" class does have its weaknesses, but nothing serious. Panasonic has got a firm hold of plasma technology, more so than any other manufacturer - the TH-42 PZ 85 E is impressive..

  • Abstract:  Hot on the heels of the TH42PX80 HD-ready plasma television I reviewed just last month, the Panasonic TH42PZ85B – boasting their Intelligent Frame Creation (IFC) and 24p Real Cinema technologies in addition to full HD native screen resolution of 1920 x...

  • Abstract:  We've already looked at - and very much enjoyed - two of Panasonic's 42in Full HD plasma TVs, the TH-42PZ80 and TH-42PZ800 . But that's not the end of Panny's Full HD 42in story, for there's one further model tucked in between: the TH-42PZ85. Probably th...

  • Stable, lustrous images, especially with HD. Build, finish and spec are all on the money
  • Black levels not up to Panasonic’s usual standards
  • This is a great TV occupying something of a nice market – we’ve seen better, but not for this amazing price ...
