  • Build quality, image quality, lens
  • Menu system, low light performance, value
  • Although it is quite expensive, the Mju 1060 offers superior build quality, stylish appearance and simplicity of use, combined with very good image quality. Reviewer: Cliff Smith

  • The Olympus Mju 1060 is a compact 10 megapixel camera with a huge 7X optical zoom lens which is something you wouldn’t expect in a camera this size. There’s a sizable 3 inch LCD on the back along with backlit buttons and an ISO range which rea...

  • 7x optical zoom with stabilisation, intuitive beginner modes, 3in display
  • High noise levels, slow shot-to-shot time, missing several key manual features
  • Olympus’ MJU 1060 is a pretty decent beginner camera with its large screen and bevy of novice modes, but its images have some issues and it can be slow at times. ...

  • Abstract:  About this time last year I reviewed a brace of new cameras from Olympus, the mju 1010 and 1020 , and I was reasonably impressed with them, although I was rather puzzled that Olympus would launch two such similar cameras, since both were 10.1-megapixel, 7...

  • Average battery life Menu system could be simpler to use Lacks manual white balance No focus assist lamp - indoor photos often out of focus! Image stabilisation doesnt work in video mode Takes XD memory cards - slow, and max size 2gb
  • The Olympus Mju 1060 is a very good camera - however it has some minor flaws - which if corrected would make this an excellent camera. One of the most obvious flaws with this camera was the lack of focus assist lamp - this meant that the camera would o...

  • 7x optical zoom; compact form factor; easy operation.
  • Laggy menu interface; lacks wide-angle optics; image quality not up to standard.
  • The Mju 1060 will probably win some people over with its long zoom lens and small footprint. But if you are fussy about image quality, then this Olympus may not be that suitable.

  • Lots of useful modes such as Guide and iAuto mode for beginners; Slim design; long zoom range.
  • Poor ISO performance; video capture could be better.
  • All in all, the Olympus mju 1060 stands out as the perfect camera for users who are not into serious photography or are just unsure how to use a camera. I can definitely see how the Guide mode will be helpful in getting the camera into the right shoot...
