  • Abstract:  Mario sure likes his sports, and once upon a time I liked his sports games. But that was a different era, where disc media was yet to be proven and everyone enjoyed paying sixty plus dollars for a cartridge. At least back then you could count on the pl...

  • Abstract:  No stranger to sports titles, the famed plumber Mario Mario along with his friends (and enemies) from the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond are now part of a new Wii release, Mario Sports Mix. Consisting of four main games and several mini-games, Mario Spor...

  • Abstract:  Mario is no stranger to the world of sports. From kart racing to tennis and beyond, Mario and friends have shown great finesse at these athletic events. Despite this, there are still some sports they have yet to tackle, such as dodgeball and volleyball...

  • Abstract:  I always hated dodgeball when I was a kid. To me it seemed like a sport designed by sadists for sadists in which the whole point was to see how much pain you could cause with a big rubber ball. So I wasn’t too excited to see that one of the four sports...

  • Easy to pick up and play; very fun when played with friends; WiFi play works well.
  • A little too simple; computer opponent AI is either phenomenally dumb or outright cheats with little inbetween; weak singleplayer modes; extras must be unlocked in each sport separately.

  • Contains the Mario charm you would expect.
  • Every sport is tedious and shallow, Computer opponents are too easy or too cheap, Requires very little skill, Too much chaos in the competitions, None of the sports offer anything new or unique.
  • Mario's latest athletic endeavor lacks the sort of skillful competition that could have made for a compelling challenge....

  • Abstract:  Mario Sports Mix is not the game I expected. For one thing, despite the standard assortment of pick-up-and-play games, the game's tournament mode ties together in a simple but incredibly bizarre tale. Also, despite the fact that they're not to be found...

  • Abstract:  Mixing Mario with sports is definitely not a new thing. He's had a flirtation with all sorts of non-Goomba-stomping activities in the past, including baseball, tennis, soccer, kart racing, and golf. But there is a sort of charm that Mario brings to eve...

  • Mario Sports Mix feels like a weird cross between something like Mario Sluggers and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. It doesn't have the depth and appeal of one of the bigger sports game, but it's too barebones to be a cool mini-game party sports ...

  • Mario Kart Wii shows how good simple, lightweight minigame-style titles can be. Make it accessible, quick and fun, and the punters will love it. Nintendo and Square Enix have tried to come up with an equally successful follow-up, only to stumble onto the...
