  • Abstract:  They put it in some pretty challenging situations and gave it a mixed review. I would add that I find it to work great just to put your DSLR onto and walk around with. I did that while travelling in Spain – put the camera on Gorillapod, and the strap arou...

  • Abstract:  With very capable cameras getting smaller and lighter with each iteration, photographers and camera bags have adapted to hold these smaller systems. Eventually, even that carbon fiber travel tripod starts to seem excessive. When traveling with limited spa...

  • Stellar build quality, Highly adjustable leg system, Rigid structure will hold form when in use, Can be mounted to a variety of things (poles, doors, railings, etc.), Ideal for tabletop camera or microphone use, Can double as a shoulderrig for video work
  • Ballhead X lacks any integrated bubble levels, Slightly overpriced ($115$130 would be more suitable), Will not fully replace your traditional tripod
  • Joby's GorillaPod Focus with Ballhead X boasts high craftsmanship, a brilliant design and a near flawless execution. While it won't completely replace a tradition tripod by any means, it is an excellent addition to any working photographer or videographer...

  • What do you want to shoot? If the limitations fit with your personal oeuvre, then go for it. If you are looking for something more versatile, there are more cumbersome DIY solutions. Otherwise, get ready to drop about a grand on a slider system, such as t...

  • Abstract:  Wouldn’t it be great if you can use a limber, powerful gorilla as a tripod? I mean, just imagine all the different kind of shots you can accomplish from various perspectives and angles. You know what would not be so great? Being torn limb from limb by ...

  • Abstract:  A little while back, I put a Canon 5D Mark II and a 70-200mm lens on a tiny little Gorillapod Magnetic – and it held the combo upside down using only magnets for grip. That was a little extreme for that little tripod though. While Joby didn’t necessari...

  • Lightweight, strong enough for most DSLRs, multiple uses
  • Bulky compared to a tabletop tripod or clamp, quite pricey
  • At £90 it isn’t cheap, especially given that this would be an addition to a regular tripod, not a replacement for one. However, if you can find room for one in your kit bag (or strapped to the outside) it will greatly increase your shooting opt...

  • Abstract:  I love tripods. I love the rock-steady, razor-sharp images I can create using a tripod. What I don’t like about tripods is carrying them. They don’t fit in the overhead compartment, and if I use a tripod in Rome or on the Acropolis I ...
