  • Simple and elegant design, Superb image quality for the money , Convenient power source, Some control over settings.
  • No optical or sensor-shift image stabilization, Slow flash recycling, Relatively small and low resolution screen, Limited zoom range.

  • PowerShot A495 has nice, clean look, Startup is fast, Macro mode results are very good ... as long as flash is off, Results in outdoor lighting are outstanding, Low price is good for beginners
  • LCD is small and not as sharp as I'd like to see, LCD can be tough to see in bright sunlight, Movie mode could be better, A builtin "help" mode would be good for beginners, Shutter lag can be a problem in low light

  • For such a cheap camera, the Canon Powershot A495 has some truly killer features. Close-up macro shots look ace and will stun all but the most snobby of camera buffs. The ‘super vivid’ option is the pick of the 18 shooting modes, offering crisp shots just as its name suggests. It has ISO up to 3,200, which is marked here as ‘low light mode’. That means it’s easy for anyone to take shots in dingy c
  • With cameras this cheap, there are bound to be a few niggles. The reliance on AA batteries means you’ll need a Duracell subscription or a recharger to hand at all times. Video clips could be a little sharper and we’ve seen better on compact cameras, but it’s not really what you’re buying a basic snapper for.
  • The Canon Powershot A495 isn’t going to turn you into the next David Bailey. But if you're on a limited budget but want pictures that don’t look like they’ve been taken with a Fisher Price toy shooter, then this is ideal. It has Canon’s sturdy build qu...
