  • welldone, wellthoughtout design of the casing, excellent or very good image quality in the frame centre across the whole range of apertures and focal lengths, good performance on the edge of the APSC/DX sensor, adequate sharpness on the edge of the full f
  • work against bright light could have been better, too high vignetting on full frame.
  • When you start comparing the list of pros and cons of the Sigma tested here and its immediate rival, the Tamron SP 150–600 mm f/5–6.3 Di VC USD, you find out they are by and large identical. Indeed you deal with almost twins, with the same parameters, pri...

  • Excellent telephoto reach. Very sharp. Includes tripod collar and lens hood. Focuses quickly. Effective image stabilization system. Zoom locking mechanism. Affordable.
  • Some chromatic aberration. Moderate pincushion distortion. Relatively narrow aperture. Heavy. Not fully dust- and splash-proof
  • The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary offers incredible telephoto reach, fast focusing, and solid image stabilization at a reasonable price....

  • The Sigma 150-600mm ƒ/5-6.3 Contemporary is a very good lens, with an outstanding performance to dollar ratio. It's a great bargain, given both its versatility and the prices for the alternatives from the major manufacturers. While image sharpness on full...

  • The image quality is excellent with good centre sharpness even at maximum aperture. The optical image stabilisation is so effective that we had no problem handholding at 600mm. The look, feel and mechanical operation of the lens have not been compromised
  • We could complain about the weight – 1.9kg – compared with a similar lens for a mirrorless camera that weighs 423g. But that's an issue of DSLR vs mirrorless and not a criticism of this lens
  • For photographers with an interest in sport or wildlife, particularly birds, who can't afford the expensive offerings from Canon and Nikon, this lens is a winner. Its competition comes from a similar Tamron lens with the same specifications and price. We...

  • Long range, Fully dust and splash-proof, Great stabilization and AF performance, Great image quality, Lots of customization and convenience options
  • Big, heavy compared to peers, Slow aperture, Cheaper Contemporary model better for average user
  • With more than a few super-telephoto zooms to choose from, the average user is likely better off with a lower-cost option, such as Sigma's Contemporary model. However, the 150-600mm Sports is built for the professional, offering great image quality, excep...
