  • Excellent Auto-Focus Logical layout and interface Durable construction Good color performance in low light
  • Dim, low-magnification viewfinder Limited white balance controls Single control dial AA batteries Compartment doors arent sealed
  • The Pentax K100D is just what an entry-level DSLR should be – simple to use and functional enough to take good pictures. Pentax deserves praise for putting such a good autofocus system in an inexpensive camera. The combination of the autofocus syste...

  • Solid construction; low price, Topmounted LCD status display
  • Noisier images at high ISO settings, Low battery life
  • This 6-megapixel SLR is a fine choice for beginning and intermediate shooters.

  • Abstract:  After spending many years using Canon SLR and Digital SLR cameras, Ive come to review the K100D, Pentaxs entry level DSLR. I was not expecting much, but to say I was surprised is an understatement. The camera is designed for a beginner: things like n...

  • Excellent image quality, Efficient CCDlevel Shake Reduction, Low sensitivity to noise (up to 800 ISO), RAW Format, Good LCD monitor, Digital Preview mode, Excellent ergonomic design, Wellbuilt
  • No RAW+ JPEG format, No light for top mounted LCD panel, Occasionally confusing menu options, Supplied with alkaline batteries
  • Pentaxs K100D fits in between the K110D and the K10D in the companys line-up of digital SLR cameras. The K100D has a 6.1 megapixel resolution, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor, and an image stabilization system at the CCD level. The K100Ds polycarbonate body...

  • Small size; good build quality; very good image quality; good basic feature set; top-mounted LCD status display; sensor-based image stabilization; affordable.
  • Sensor-based stabilization is not as good as lens-based stabilization; noisier images at ISO 800 and above; poor battery life.
  • Because of its 6.1-megapixel sensor, you won’t be able to enlarge the K100D’s images as much as you could with a higher resolution camera, but for users who want a DSLR, and all of the flexibility that it provides, the K100D is a great en...

  • Quality construction. Excellent images. Built-in shake reduction works with all Pentax lenses. ISO to 3,200 for extreme low-light photography. Uses AA batteries.
  • Continuous shooting limited to four to five frames before buffer fills. Fourway rocker switch not positive enough. Short battery life.
  • The K100D is a quality camera thats fun to shoot with and delivers superb images, and its available at a great price if youre looking for your first SLR. ...

  • Abstract:  Although I have a deep and abiding respect for the many marketing people without whom I could not do my job, I have to wonder at the sanity of the marketing genius that came up with the name for Pentax's previous line of digital SLRs. The name, “*ist” wa...

  • About as good as six megapixel resolution gets, crisp and detailed, a big improvement, Excellent detail even at higher ISOs, overall noise levels on par with competition, Effective long exposure noise reduction (necessary too), Accurate and fast auto-focu...
  • Limited continuous shooting capability, buffer only large enough for four JPEG frames, Over-saturated default image tone (Bright), can lead to channel clipping, Relatively loud shutter release, Slightly humorous user interface compromise (Cntnuos expsr)...
  • When we reviewed the *ist DS it was a camera which equally surprised and disappointed; on one hand it was one of those cameras which functioned beyond its expectation or billing, and on the other it disappointed with its relatively poor in-camera imag...
