  • 24x zoom, reasonable low-light performance, ISO-limiting function
  • Colours looked too pale, too much noise at ISO 800, screen doesn’t swivel for self-portraits, feels too small
  • Nikon’s Coolpix P90 is perfect if you want a small camera with a massive zoom. It doesn’t take excellent photos, but it’s quality is good enough for A4 prints and for sharing your pics online. ...

  • 24x optical zoom , Pleasing, if slightly oversaturated colours , Time-lapse feature , Variable-angle LCD screen , Fast burst rate in sports mode
  • No hotshoe , No RAW support , No HD video , Very prominent barrel distortion at the wide end
  • The P90 is a competent superzoom with an impressive burst rate, but loses out against its competitors on image quality and features. That said, unless you need HD video and RAW functionality, the P90 is a relatively good buy given the extensive zoom ra...

  • Abstract:  Verdict: The massive zoom range and articulated screen are highlights, but image quality is bettered elsewhere. Nikon has pulled out all the stops with the P90. It has a 12-megapixel sensor and a 3in screen, but top billing goes to the 24x zoom lens...

  • Bright, detailed shots in good conditions, large LCD screen, innovative distortion correction and BSS functions
  • Noisy shots in imperfect lighting, long-zoom shots can be soft, unappelaing plastic design

  • Tilting LCD; 24x super-wideangle lens; boasts digital SLR-style aperture-priority, shutter-priority and manual exposure modes
  • Soft detail at full zoom; reduced resolution at high ISOs and frame rates; no raw file option
  • As superzooms go, the Nikon Coolpix P90's not bad, but it fails to bring anything new to the genre. It can hold its own against its rivals, but there's nothing that makes it stand out. The Olympus SP-590 UZ is much cheaper and the Canon PowerShot SX1 ...
