  • Waterproof and shockproof construction, Excellent metering, Realistic image colors, Good whitebalance, Usable up to ISO 6400 for small prints, Fast PhaseDetect AF, Classleading continuous drive, Quick shutterlag, Ultra quiet, Sharp and crisp LCD with fast
  • Above average image noise for a mirrorless, General image softness, Limited dynamic range, Limited lens selection, Wrong framing of video in image mode, Unresponsive at times, Not ExposurePriority LCD, Very few direct controls, Short batterylife
  • Image quality of this mirrorless depends on what it is compared against. Its 2.7X crop-factor sensor puts it well ahead of most fixed-lens cameras, including all other waterproof camera, yet it reamains behind the majority of mirrorless ones.Still, the AW...

  • We never thought we would say this, but shooting JPEG is better than RAW. Nikon's decision to go with a relatively small sensor means noise is obvious at ISO800, well below the speed that will be needed underwater or in fog. But Nikon has long been the champion of noise reduction in JPEG, without loss of detail.
  • Given the small sensor, the unit seems a little larger than necessary but that may make it easier to handle with gloves
  • As a unique product - an underwater camera that doesn't need an additional special housing - it is an outstanding addition to Nikon's product line-up. It is not a camera for everyday use; it is for anyone who goes in for eyeball-to-eyeball encounters with...

  • First waterproof interchangeable lens camera. Built like a tank to withstand the elements. Incredibly fast 60fps shooting speed
  • No image stabilisation in either of the waterproof lenses. Wi-Fi not built in, relies on optional adapter. Screen is difficult to see in direct sunlight
  • An ideal companion for your active life, the Nikon 1 AW1 offers interchangeable lenses and better image quality than your standard waterproof point-and-shoot....

  • Waterproof and tough, Reliable exposure metering, Bright, high res monitor
  • Only two toughened lenses available, Rear controls fiddly, Essential settings hidden in menus
  • We have to hand it to Nikon for introducing a toughened, yet attractive, waterproof system camera with plenty of features and decent performance. Sure, other cameras will give you better image quality for the money, but some compromises have to be made to...
