  • With high speed internet fast becoming the standard across not only the UK but most of the connected world, its great to see a new line of routers that can not only handle the high speed connections on a wired basis but also over wireless as well. The R63...

  • Abstract:  Five years ago, we didn't have homes with a dozen wireless nodes and the need to run HD video to multiple screens. Today we do. Our 802.11n networks, especially on the 2.4 GHz band, are swamped. Can 802.11ac save the day? We test six routers to find ou...

  • Abstract:  The Netgear R6300 was one of the first 802.11ac routers available to buy in the UK. It stands as the company's flagship 'ultimate performance' home router, and offers most of the features you'd expect from a comprehensive home hub. It's a dual-band 11ac r...

  • With 802.11ac being new technology there are limited devices available on the market which support the speeds offered... and this includes wireless adapters. For that reason we used two R6300s for this review. One acting normally (as a router) and the...

  • Ground breaking 802.11ac & 802.11n performance, Class leading wireless range, Two USB ports, Powerful parental controls
  • Bulky, uninspiring design, Expensive, No Netgear Cloud platform - yet
  • We come back to the key questions in the intro: will you see the performance benefit of switching to 802.11ac? Yes, 802.11ac to 802.11ac is incredible. But should you buy now? Arguably not until prices drop and 802.11ac devices and USB dongles become wide...

  • 802.11ac support, 2.4GHz and 5GHZ support, 4x Gigabit LAN ports, 5GHz 802.11n is speedy
  • 802.11ac Draft 2, Poor 2.4GHz performance, High price, Huge chassis, Tricky Bridge settings
  • As a 5GHz router, the Netgear R6300 excels. It provides a comprehensive feature set and easy installation. Problematically, it's very expensive, and frankly, even if it's compatible with future 802.11ac hardware, we wouldn't recommend investing in any su...

  • As the first router of a new generation, the Netgear R6300 can definitely be called a success. Granted, 1.3 gbps is still quite a way away, but there are clear performance gains compared to 802.11n. Speeds of up to 500 mbps are possible with this router...

  • Abstract:  Netgear is the latest early-adopter of the in-development 802.11ac standard, which is intended to provide throughput of at least one gigabit per second. That’s almost double the maximum throughput of 802.11n, the highest-speed Wi-Fi standard that’s be...

  • Genie software provides easy setup and management, Supports draft 802,11ac, Dual USB ports, Very good performance in 2,4 GHz N-only mode, IPv6 support, Runs cool
  • Bizarre design that limits placement, Performance not on par with other Netgear dual-bands, No USB 3,0
  • Although the Netgear R6300 supports the latest 802.11ac standard (in draft form); an odd design, and surprisingly underwhelming performance running in 11ac mode does not make this router one of Netgear's best...
