  • The Mio A701 disappointed me. I had high hopes that this was going to be a well integrated smart phone satnav solution, but it has too many little flaws. It's by no means unusable, but it needs to be tweaked quite a bit before I'd consider buying one....

  • Relatively small for a device with both an integrated mobile phone and a GPS receiver; some well thought-out user interface elements; available with and without navigation software
  • Lacks Wi-Fi and infrared; postcode navigation is not seven-digit, making it difficult to use; battery life could be longer

  • Large screen, smaller than the others in the test, 1.3 megapixel camera, new SiRF Star III GPS receiver
  • GPS first phone second, no qwerty keyboard, no Wi-Fi
  • Great for those wanting more than just a phone with a supped up address book, but not looking to go down the full blown PDA route
