Skylake offers improved efficiency and overclocking over Haswell while the new Z170 chipset tops the Z97 with more USB 3.0/PCIe 3.0 lanes, PCIe 3.0 storage support and Intel RST.
The Core i76700K is generally no faster than the i74790K, which will make it difficult to coax purchases out Haswell and Ivy Bridge owners. Availability is rumored to be limited.
Good performance, overclocks well, Z170 platform offers new features.
Not much faster than Haswell, still quadcore, no heatsink included, needs new motherboard and RAM

14nm goodness, It's a bit faster, Intel has opened up the overclocking
It's not a lot faster, Still just four cores, Intel's product strategy has gone walkies
Its performance gains may be modest, but the Core i7-6700K is definitely exciting on the overclocking front...
