  • Abstract:  In its latest preview update, Google has re-enabled touch controls on its miniature smart speaker, Google Home Mini, after disabling the function just before to its launch following privacy concerns. Android Police's, Artem Russakovski, noticed that the...

  • "The Google Home Mini would be a nailed-on five-star product if Google had only spent a couple of quid putting in a 3.5mm headphone jack in every unit."...

  • Truth is, the $US50 ($65) Echo Dot and the $US50 ($65) Home Mini are more alike than they are different, which makes it tough to determine a clear winner. The extent to which you'd buy one over the other also depends on your current setup. If you already...

  • Access to Google Assistant, Compact, Inexpensive
  • Underwhelming music sound quality, No audio line-out
  • As long as you don't care about music quality, the Mini is a welcome addition to the Google Home smart speaker family...

  • Abstract:  It's been a year since Google introduced the world to Google Home, one of the company's first physical hardware products and generally the best way to interact with the then-nascent Google Assistant.Google came quite late to this party, with Amazon's Echo...

  • Abstract:  It's almost unfair that most of the world met our voice-controlled future in the form of an Amazon Echo. Sure, the gadget works, but damn is it ugly. The Google Home was better but still sort of silly-looking. That's why the sleek, minimalist Google Home...

  • The Google Home Mini is a stylish-looking speaker with surprisingly strong sound quality. The Google Assistant is a capable Alexa competitor, especially thanks to its ability to search out detailed answers to a wide variety of questions
  • There isn't much the Home Mini does that Alexa can't do, too. It also lacks a line out jack, and requires Chromecast Audio in order to connect with at external speaker setup
  • The Google Home Mini is a great device, and a no-brainer for existing Google Home users -- but it isn't the Echo Dot-killer Google probably needs it to be...

  • Compact and cute design, Google Assistant is excellent, Works with many apps and devices
  • Audio quality is limited, Very Google-centric
  • The official retail price of the Google Home Mini is £49 – that's a decent price already but you can often find it on the web for cheaper than that, and at the time of writing it's down to £29 on the official Google Store. We've also seen plenty of offers...

  • Attractive design, Google Assistant delivers good responses to questions, Growing support for third-party devices, Great companion to Home Hub
  • Fabric won't clean easily, No audio output, Sound quality isn't great (but then it's not designed as a speaker for music, Really)
  • There's nothing especially remarkable about Google Home Mini, except a couple of things: it does everything the bigger Home product does, but is much, much smaller. It is also cheaper and it is a brilliant companion device to the Google Home Hub.Home Mini...

  • Abstract:  The reasons for that are twofold: first, Amazon was fastest out the blocks. Although the Echo may feel relatively new in the UK, it has been a feature of futuristic American homes since 2014. Second, Amazon twigged early on that buyers might not feel...
