  • The Fujifilm Finepix F50fd is a frustrating beast. On one hand it offers a number of significant improvements when compared with the older F31fd, but on the other it takes a serious backwards step in terms of image quality, which is ultimately what ev...

  • Abstract:  Review Introduction The Fuji Finepix F50 is an evolution of both the F31fd and the F40fd. While the F50s feature set comes from the F31fd with its shutter and aperture priority modes not found on most ultra-compact digital cameras, its design closely ...

  • Excellent resolution I-Flash properly exposes subjects Great portraits Aperture and Shutter Priority modes 2 fps Burst mode Bargain $299 price
  • LCD catches glare High noise levels above ISO 100 Poor dynamic range Poor white balance accuracy Slow processing Poor handling
  • We really want to love the Fujifilm FinePix F50fd. It has a lot going for it: 12 very effective megapixels and a bargain $299 price tag, to name a few. It has a good amount of manual control for a palm-sized digital camera, and it has a wide ISO range,...

  • This camera has aperture- and shutter-priority exposure controls, sensor-shift image stabilization, a nice slim design, and face detection that outperforms the versions offered by most of the competition.
  • The camera is sluggish between shots, shows minor noise even at its lowest ISO, and doesnt include a full-manual exposure mode.
  • The Fujifilm FinePix F50fd should please most snapshooters and its above-average exposure controls should appeal to advanced photographers, too.

  • Good image quality when printed, Image stabilization system, Excellent Multisegment metering system, Superb colour rendition, No chromatic aberration, Compatible with both SD and xD memory cards, Sharp 27inch monitor
  • Some noise as of 100 ISO, Compression too strong at the highest image quality, No compression choices, Underpowered flash
  • The FinePix F50fd, the latest addition to Fujifilms F cameras, offers a new design that holds a 12 megapixel Super CCD, a 3X optical zoom and a 2.7-inch monitor. The front of the camera is metal-clad while the rest is made of black plastic with silve...

  • Very high resolution images, Good face detection and flash, Manual control over exposure, Cheaper than 12 Mpixel rivals.
  • Pedestrian 35-105mm lens range, Noise artefacts at 200 ISO and above, Screen and IS bettered by rivals, Not much grip to speak of.
  • The Fujifilm FinePix F50fd is the best value 12 Megapixel compact on the market. It comes in comfortably cheaper than rivals from Panasonic and Sony, while also delivering a thoughtful and effective approach to indoor flash photography – but do keep...

  • Abstract:  Introduction The Fujifilm F50fd is the successor to the F40fd, and brings numerous changes compared to its older brother. Among the most notable of these are the move from 8 to 12 megapixels, and the addition of an optical stabilizer. This fall, the c...

  • Image quality is gorgeous, very much in the style of Fuji’s admired Velvia film. Focus is fast and accurate, exposure is consistent, resolution is outstanding. Auto white balance is almost always spot on, so colours are accurate. Skin tones are love...
  • There is always a but. The stunning image quality ends at ISO200. Up to that speed the pictures are perfect, above that speed they deteriorate, due to the excessive pixel density. At ISO400 the pictures start to look grainy, and the in-camera noise red...
  • If you can live with a top ISO of 200 – which is the standard speed of most colour negative film that we used in the past – then the Fuji is a terrific little camera. We would like an optical viewfinder, but they are a fast disappearing camera...
