  • The scanned image quality is very good, both for black and white negatives and for 50 year old Kodachrome slides. Scanning 35mm originals at 9600dpi produces a big file that translates into a 140x90cm at 240dpi in Photoshop, giving head room for cropping
  • The software supplied with the printer is out of date and will not work with the latest versions of Mac OSX. The latest drivers must be downloaded from Epson
  • If you have been thinking about (and procrastinating) digitising the family photo archive the V600 is a reasonably inexpensive and efficient way of doing it...

  • Abstract:  The Epson Perfection V600 Photo slots in just above the V500 model but has a lower bit depth than the V700, which we reviewed in March 2006 (INSERT LINK) and which remains as the premium model in Epson's range. Designed for photo enthusiasts who want t...

  • Film holders for 35mm, medium format and transparency (slide) , Good OCR recognition , Excellent quality flatbed scans
  • No support for film larger than 120 , No calibration or profiling options
  • For a photographer looking to transfer their analog films and slides to digital format, the V600 provides an affordable and versatile solution....

  • Let's deal with the big question: can a flat-bed scanner really produce film scans to compare with a dedicated 35mm scanner? In our opinion, most users will be well satisfied with the Epson output. Scanned Kodachrome slides retained colour, detail and...
  • There is no printed instruction manual and the unit, by default, is set to Automatic mode. In this mode it will not scan negative strips correctly. The scan mode must be set to Professional (even if you think that doesn't mean you) to get proper contr...
  • This is an outstanding scanner. Scans of opaque materials are excellent and the film scans are the best we have seen from a flat-bed scanner. The bundled software makes the package good value for the money. There are cheaper scanners, including the fi...

  • Digital ICE dust removal, Excellent OCR results, Good range of transparency holders
  • Substantial footprint, External power supply, Noisy head drive motors
  • The Epson Perfection V600 Photo is a quick scanner. Starting from the simplest 200ppi A4 black and white scan, which took just eight seconds, it takes very little time to start scanning, thanks to its white LED light source. LEDs, which used to be found o...
