  • Widescreen mode, Firing range, New missions
  • No MP3 player, No New Game Plus mode

  • Technical upgrades are impressive across the board, New narrative content is strong and asks some poignant questions, Core game has only become more prescient on repeated playthroughs, New tutorial/training elements make learning the game much easier
  • New stealth areas feel meta, and stick out awkwardly from the rest of the game, Director's Cut gameplay elements take away a little from the game's narrative

  • New gadgets are fun to use, Tons of customization, 60 fps, New missions…
  • but only a few short ones, No outside music player
  • Death Standing: Director's Cut is the definitive version of the game. It's gorgeous and runs at 60 frames per second, while including everything from the PC version. The new missions are a bit too light on content, but they round out the experience nicely...

  • Abstract:  Later this month, Kojima Productions will release the enhanced edition of the studio's bizarre 2019 adventure Death Stranding. In keeping with the release's “Director's Cut” subtitle, Hideo Kojima himself has gone and made his own final trailer in order t...

  • Abstract:  The GoodThe BadFew knew what to make of Death Stranding when it arrived on PS4 in 2019. Stunningly beautiful and with the weight of Metal Gear Solid 's creator Hideo Kojima behind it, it should have been a shoo-in for one of the best games on the plat...

  • Abstract:  It was always inevitable, considering game designer Hideo Kojima's cinephile tendencies, that Death Stranding would get a director's cut. What's surprising about this revised PlayStation 5 version of the game is that it doesn't involve hours of extra cine...

  • Dazzling visuals, Real emotional momentum, Complex but intuitive mechanics, Captivating acting performances, Unique narrative
  • Combat starts out sluggish
  • (Image credit: Kojima Productions)Death Stranding is a game where monotony is innately imbued with intangible subjects of the extraordinary. On paper, the premise shouldn't work. A deliveryman, a ruined world, a convoluted plot centered around dejection a...

  • Stunningly beautiful game - even more so on PS5,Loads of extras including new gear and structures,Quality-of-life improvements make the gameplay easier to get into,Haptics and adaptive trigger help with immersion
  • Still as bamboozling as ever,A lot of cutscenes in the beginning several hours' worth of play,Some players might just find the main gameplay repetitive and dull
  • Plenty of additions and tweaks or no, Death Stranding: Director's Cut will continue to allude those sceptical the first time around. It does make it easier to get immersed into Kojima's world though, for those who had a passing interest and decided agains...
