  • Fitting in well with Canon's entry-level DSLR selection
  • Great AF performance

The editors didn't like

  • Abstract:  So when Canon says it has the smallest ever DSLR, I'm interested. These cameras, when not elephantine, do have advantages. The pictures they produce tend to have less depth of field, which sounds like a bad thing, but lends that professional, blurred back...

  • Small, light body, Live View performance, Great picture quality
  • No flip-out screen, Stripped-back controls, The 700D does more
  • The Canon 100D is a great camera with many plus points. It takes fantastic photos and shoots lovely video, is small, light and well built, and has the best Live View performance of any APS-C camera (at least until we test the forthcoming EOS 70D ). But t...

  • Smaller and lighter build makes carrying DSLR body and lens less of a dra, yet more compact proportions haven’t obviously compromised picture quality
  • The lighter construction results in more obvious camera shake in lower ligh, no angle adjustable LCD plus a smaller handgrip than the 700D which costs just 50 quid more

  • In short those used to DSLRs will find much familiar on the 100D, whilst those upgrading from an iPhone will soon familiarise themselves

  • Extremely compact body for a DSLR with builtin flash, Excellent screen: multitouch controls, accurate display calibration, Userfriendly handling, simple and effective controls, Responsiveness: very fast to use, Picture quality: perfectly usable up to 3200
  • 1855 STM kit lens isn't great: sharpness could be better, too bulky, Sound recorded in mono
  • With the EOS 100D, Canon has effectively made a mini version of its 650D. This compact DSLR has the same main strengths as its full-sized counterpart, with a user-friendly design, a good sensor, quality electronics and an excellent screen. Plus, this mini...

  • I really enjoyed using the Canon EOS 100D. In
terms of size, it certainly doesnt feel like the body is
much of a compromise and it packs in all the features
that would be expected from a mid-range enthusiast
DSLR.Even used with slightly larger lenses...

  • Canon has miniaturised the digital SLR with the EOS 100D. If you want a small camera, but absolutely have to have a proper viewfinder, this is your best bet at the moment. It's surprisingly usable given its tiny dimensions, although its 18-megapixel senso...

  • Good design including rubberised handgrip, Creative filters feature live preview, Strikingly small body
  • Similar price to the Canon EOS 700D, AF system only features one cross-type point, Small design means small battery
  • The Canon EOS 100D is an excellent DSLR that presents an interesting alternative to CSCs in terms of specification and size, as well as fitting in well with Canon's entry-level DSLR selection.Although it's a lot more expensive than Canon's current entry-l...
