  • Video looks great on the bright screen; good range of features; easier to use than previous Archos devices
  • Touchscreen isn't as responsive as it could be; doesn't support the Android Market; navigation software costs extra; you'll have to pay more to be able to play some file formats
  • Video looks great on the Archos 5 Internet Tablet's huge screen, and its audio performance is also highly impressive. The relatively unresponsive resistive touchscreen and the scarcity of apps available in Archos' store are disappointing, though ...

  • We were very impressed with the Archos 5 first time round and the addition of Android combined with the hardware tweaks only improves things. While it is lacking some aspects of the full Android experience, the 5 still has far more potential than most...

  • There's not been a great Android multimedia player until now, but the Archos 5 Internet Tablet sets the standard for everything from Android phones to Apple's iPods to follow. There's vast file support for both music (MP3, WMA, AAC, Ogg Vorbis...
  • The new Archos 5 Internet Tablet may run Android, but that doesn't mean you can download just any old app for Google's platform. You're stuck with those available on Archos's own AppsLib e-store, and compared to the Android Market, its she...
  • Archos is clearly gunning for the iPod touch with the Archos 5 Internet Tablet, but when it's so much larger, it's missing the point. The Archos 5 Internet Tablet is perfect if you find yourself squinting at video on the Apple PMP's small scre...

  • Strong multimedia performer, Screen size and quality, Build quality
  • Lack of 3G support, Limited apps in the Apps Lab
  • A fantastic multimedia performer with some extras to boot. With a stronger app offering and 3G compatibility this could have been a competitor to the iPod Touch. For now, the App Store remains the Touch's biggest trump card

  • Giant, near-5in screen. Android OS. Speedy 800Mhz processor. HD support
  • Implementation of Android OS could be slicker. Lack of apps. Poor build quality of headphones and speaker
  • The Archos 5 is pretty as a picture but doesn't quite have the Android dazzle we expected ...

  • Excellent video and audio quality, Solidly built, Great screen,
  • Stylus would have been useful, Nonremovable battery, Web browsing could have been better,
  • A few flaws but this tablet is a winner for its all-round performance ...

  • Abstract:  Google's Android is making its way into every nook and cranny in the tech industry, so we weren't surprised to find the open-source operating system (OS) in Archos new offering, the Archos 5 Internet Tablet.Like its earlier iterations, the Archos 5 sports...

  • Out of the box, the Archos 5 Internet Tablet is a great media player. While having an Android OS seems to have made the interface much more intuitive and easy to use, its potential is unfulfilled and stunted by the lack of supporting apps specifically ...
