  • Tabs in Finder, Useful new apps, Enhanced performance, Great multi, display improvements
  • Suboptimal tagging, Some elements still pig, ugly, Few moments of excitement, Feels a bit unfinished
  • On balance, the experience is positive, but there's a feeling Mavericks is a touch unfinished and that this iteration of OS X was rushed. Our hope is that Mavericks represents further evidence of Apple rapidly iterating OS X, bringing new features and id...

  • Battery life improvements are great, notifications, improved multiple display support, it's free (from Snow Leopard and beyond)
  • Different to iOS 7 design language, check for third-party application support to be sure, Quick Look is slow, Mail not as fast
  • Mavericks is a free upgrade so it's really hard to complain about, well, anything much. Quick Look seems initially slower than before, while Mail doesn't seem as speedy as its predecessor. We might also question why Apple hasn't gone down a more iO...

  • Smooth running and efficient, Fully featured, Tightly integrated with iOS 7, Cleaner looking, Smart new power management features
  • Minor inconsistencies here and there
  • Once again, Mavericks shows that Apple got things right when it chose to create separate operating systems for computers on one hand, and for phones and tablets on the other. OS X is the smoothest, most reliable, most convenient, and most manageable cons...

  • VERDICT Mavericks 10.9 is a solid update to arguably the world's best desktop operating system. Disappointed by 'solid'? So were we, a little bit. Maybe it's our hangover from iOS7's release: we reckon that Apple had an opportunity to do something truly s...

  • Better support for multiple monitors; Finder tabs; improvements to performance and battery consumption; new Maps and iBooks apps; and updates to Safari and Calendar; new productivity features
  • None, yet...
  • OS X Mavericks may come with an unloved codename but the software behind it shows another strong step toward the unification of Macs and iOS devices. But some added features can also make users focused on Mac productivity cheerful too, and the system seem...

  • Abstract:  At least, that's what the arrival of Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9 feels like, such has been the deafening noise accompanying the build-up to the launch of Apple 's iOS 7 . A humble Mac desktop point release? It never stood a chance.Packed with new features and...

  • Abstract:  Mavericks has plenty of modest refinements that add up to a system well worth the upgrade - even if Apple weren't giving it away for free. Many years ago, Web surfing changed dramatically when the Opera browser offered a way to open multiple Web pages in t...

  • Abstract:  I woke up yesterday (a bit difficult, because I stayed up the night before to watch the Apple Event) and proceeded to download the new, free OS X 10.9 upgrade, or as it's better known, Mavericks .Frankly, I was willing to shell out upwards of US$30-$50 fo...
