The R3 1200 overclocks well (even for a Ryzen CPU) and doing so put it nearly on par with the i57500. Overclocking is enabled by low temps, low power
The R3 1300X is less attractive than the 1200 considering it costs $20 more and only overclocks another 100MHz
It is amazing to see how much value you can gain from both Ryzen 3 processors, in fact these might be the best entry-level desktop processors that AMD released, ever. Now, before I continue, you likely (as I did initially) compared the processors to stuff...

The Ryzen 3 CPUs are perhaps the best value buys AMD currently has to offer. These days, with AMD's new Ryzen 3 offering, there is almost no point in buying a 2-core 4-thread CPU, unless you play specific games (or use applications) that are single thread...
Which processor now offers the most bang of your buck varies per price segment. If you have a very small budget, in our opinion it is best to find an Intel Pentium G4560, which, given its higher availability, is less of a challenge than it was a few month...

Abstract: For the past few years, processors made by Intel have been more powerful – and much more popular – than those made by rival AMD. However, AMD’s Ryzen processors have turned that around: they’re powerful CPUs at a tempting price, and an excellent alternati...
What we have with the Ryzen 3 1200 is a similar situation to the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 series, specifically regarding the Ryzen 5 1600 and Ryzen 7 1700. They have the same basic specifications as their more expensive X-edition siblings but slower frequencie...

None, “The cheapest Ryzen to date is an impressive bit of hardware. Delivering quad-core performance and easy overclocking that’s sure to please those building a system on a tighter budget”, AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Quad-Core CPU Review,
For those building a Ryzen AM4 system on a tighter budget, the Ryzen 3 is a no brainer. The R3 is the most affordable Ryzen chip ever, and it's about half the price of Intel's quad-core offerings, especially the ones that offer overclocking. It runs incre...
