  • Abstract:  Assassin's Creed: Origins just released, and we have our review in progress discussing the finer points of the game and environments. But what does it take to actually run the game well I haven't had a chance to test all the hardware combinations I plan o...

  • Abstract:  The new game Forza Motorsport 7 was released on October 3rd and has been a very hot topic since its release. It all started when reviews came in that AMD's Radeon Vega GPUs were doing well in the game, performing well above the competition's performance f...

  • Ever since we saw AMD Vega running DOOM, we had such high hopes for it. The success of the AMD Ryzen family of processors only buoyed that optimism. However, the AMD Vega turned out not to be the Pascal-killer we thought it would be.On paper, the AMD Rade...

  • Unlike the RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled edition which fell quite short of its performance target of the GTX 1080 Ti and barely matched the GTX 1080, the RX Vega 56 is faster than the GTX 1070 FE. Using performance as our primary metric, at $399, the RX Vega 5...

  • Competitive at 1440p resolution gaming
  • High power requirements, No DVI port
  • The AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics card is a solid alternative to the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, but just be aware of its power-gulping requirements...

  • Faster than GeForce GTX 1070 FE, ~30% lower power than Vega 64, Great 1440p performance
  • Higher power consumption than GTX 1070, Cooling fan is loud under load, Uncertain value given volatile pricing
  • Radeon RX Vega 56 has the potential to be a GeForce GTX 1070 killer if AMD can make enough of them to hit its pricing target. Although the card uses a lot of power, kicks out quite a bit of heat, and makes more noise than the competition under load, p...

  • Vega 64 is slightly slower than the GTX 1080, while the liquid cooled version wins more than it loses against the GTX 1080
  • Poor availability and thus pricing. AMD's aircooled RX Vega 64 reference card is ~5% slower than the GTX 1080 FE despite being hotter, louder and using more power (though we have high hopes for custom cards)
