  • Bangin new compact body houses all the power of the original. A beefier 120GB hard drive is still a breeze to swap out. Overall, runs quieter than previous PS3 iterations. Hello extra Cnote! A great value, especially if youre still sans a Bluray player.
  • Like a waifish model, the Slim is too wobbly to stand on its ends: Sony requires you to purchase a $24 plastic stand (if you want to balance the rig upright.). Sorry Captain Linux, no more support for alternate operating systems. Its no 360 turbine, but t...

  • Abstract:  Since its inception, Sony’s Playstation 3 quickly ascended the ranks as a market leader – just not in the demographic that the electronics giant would’ve probably preferred. Though it’s become well respected in the gaming sector, its prowess lies in t...

  • Abstract:  The original PlayStation 3 has proved far and away the most popular Blu-ray player on the planet. And while there are better-performing dedicated BD-spinners available, a rich combination of talents have made it a well-deserved market leader. So how do...

  • Smaller, lighter, and quieter, More energy efficient, Matte finish
  • Bluray playback a tad slower, No support for OtherOS, No PS2 legacy support
  • Looking past any potential aversion to matte, anyone picking up a PlayStation 3 Slim is getting a significantly better product than an early or even mid adopter. Sony really has come through with a smaller, lighter, quieter, and more energy-efficient piec...

  • New compact and energy-efficient design. Terrific gaming performance. Integrated high-quality Blu-ray player. Hard drive is easily accessible for upgrades. Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. Support for HDMI CEC and DLNA.
  • No memory card slots. Lacks support for Netflix streaming. Dedicated Blu-ray remote is not included.
  • A long-overdue price drop, a hard-drive bump, and a compelling physical redesign make the Sony PlayStation 3 more desirable than ever....

  • More affordable $299 price; slimmer, more compact design with quieter operation; all games in high-definition; easy-to-use interface; doubles as a Blu-ray and upscaling DVD player; built-in Wi-Fi; 120GB hard drive; HDMI output with 1080p support; no ex...
  • Lacks backward support for PS2 games; no infrared port means non-Bluetooth universal remotes arent compatible; online gaming, media, and commerce options still arent as fully developed as Xbox Live, though theyre getting better.
  • With a smaller design, more energy-efficient operation, lower price tag, and built-in Blu-ray and multimedia capabilities, the PS3 Slim delivers a compelling package for an affordable price.

  • Abstract:  The single largest roadblock that prevents most people from picking up a PlayStation 3 is the price. Sony's just taken that roadblock and shrunk it. You're now $100 more likely to buy a PlayStation 3. The Difference The PlayStation 3 Slim is actua...

  • More compact and understated; Runs much quieter; Cheaper than many full-spec Blu-ray players
  • 120GB HDD seems ungenerous; Still no remote or HDMI cable

  • Smaller and lighter, quieter and more energy-efficient
  • Only two USB ports instead of four, still no backwards compatibility for PS2 games
  • With its slicker body and reduced price point, the PlayStation 3 Slim is vastly more enticing than its costly predecessor. As Blu-ray players go, it’s pretty hard to beat -- and that’s before you even factor in the games. If Microsoft claims i...
