  • Abstract:  The Leica SL (Typ 601) is a mirrorless system camera with a full frame sensor and 24MP. The brand new system offers numerous professional features, an electronic viewfinder with extremely high resolution, a very fast AF system, a massive and robust body...

  • Abstract:  Within this category, which includes body-only cameras costing $2000 or more (based on MSRP in the US), you'll find some of the fiercest competitors the camera industry has to offer. This includes cameras with 50 or more megapixels geared perfectly for st...

  • Abstract:  You have to marvel at the way Leica dives in to things unapologetically, even when its choices seem like those of a madman. Consider the Leica SL, an entirely new full-frame mirrorless camera. Bundled with a lens it runs over $12,000 and it weighs more th...

  • Nikon's 28mm F1.4E ED appears to roundly complete the company's updated lineup of fast, professional prime lenses. We've already seen some initial images from a Nikon ambassador, but we've worked through a gallery of our own, with a lens of our own over t...

  • Abstract:  I spent a few minutes with the new Leica SL mirrorless camera and the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm f/2.8-4 lens today and came away with a couple of key first impressions.First off, the camera and lens is huge and heavy. I just can't believe how large this ca...

  • Abstract:  The latest edition from Leica, a full-frame 24mp mirrorless system camera makes it a very strong competitor. We were lucky enough to put the Leica SL to the test before it was officially announced and this is what we found.Leica is renowned for its high q...

  • Abstract:  It has the Leica badge and a full frame sensor, but it isn't an rangefinder camera. Nope, the new Leica SL is Leica's attempt to compete with the Sony A7 series cameras, and it shows that Leica is listening to its customers. For photographers there is a...

  • Leica cameras are expensive, no other way to say it. In the past I always felt comfortable suggesting that potential buyers could justify the cost because of the build-quality, pride of ownership, superlative tactile feedback and indisputably excellent op...

  • The Leica SL's photo and video quality are first-rate, its continuous shooting is fast with excellent autofocus in good light, and it has almost all the features you might want. Plus it has some very streamlined aspects to its design and operation
  • The grip is really uncomfortable, very-low-light autofocus is a bit slow, and the body and lenses are huge for a mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera
  • With Leica-quality photo and video plus fast performance, the Leica SL has a lot to recommend. But the uncomfortable grip, big body and lens, and high price might make many buyers hesitate...

  • Full-frame image sensor. Responsive, accurate autofocus system. 10.5fps shooting rate. Dust- and splash-proof design. Aluminum body. Huge, sharp EVF. Touch-screen LCD. In-camera Wi-Fi and GPS. Dual SD slots. 4K video recording. Uncompressed 4K HDMI output
  • Expensive. Lens system in its infancy. Some controls can't be remapped. Omits built-in flash
  • The Leica SL (Typ 601) is an expensive, forward-thinking full-frame mirrorless camera that is a joy to use...
