  • With the Obsidian 550D Corsair brings an appealing and compelling product to the market to the ones that seek a nice clean looking chassis yet don't want to forfeit on noise levels.Everything with this chassis is wrapped around noise levels, rubber feet...

  • Abstract:  In recent years, some of my favorite cases have come from Corsair - a statement that not too long ago I would have never thought I'd be making. Since the company's rapid expansion into nearly all things enthusiast computing, the Corsair Obsidian lin...

  • Excellent engineering quality, Solid Aluminium front door, Very good sound dampening materials used, Covers on side and top air vents to maximize silence, Door may swing open to either side, Great external looks, Very well thought out internals, Parted HD
  • More expensive than other silent cases on the market, which clock in at 100 - 110 US Dollars, Simple I/O, Silent approach makes for restrictive air flow - especially in the front
  • With many companies offering cases geared toward a silent computing experience, Corsair is going all out, offering the most expensive option in the fray. Clocking in at a price premium when compared to offerings from NZXT, Fractal Design or Cooler Mast...

  • As Corsair's first case to tackle noise rather than cooling, the Obsidian 550D achieves what it sets out to do. Even with our Core i7-860 CPU and HD 5870 2GB churning through Prime95 and the Unigine Heaven benchmark, noise levels were incredibly low. It c...

  • filters, filters, filters, removable covers for the side and top fan grilles, toolless optical drive bays, one button side panel releases, lots of space to change out CPU coolers without removing mainboard, both drive bays can be removed, if need be, lots of space to hide PSU cables, top panel is removable, if you happen to need to, door opens to the right, the left, or comes off completely, in
  • no Molex adapters included for the fans, mainboard tray inhibits use of PATA drives, somewhat cheap trim on the front panel interface, could do with a couple more USB ports in front,
  • As a case intended for those who crave silence above all else, the Obsidian 550D is pretty well perfect. Everything about it screams obsessive attention to detail, and by the time I got done building a silent rig for my sister out of it I found myself ...

  • The Obsidian 550D left us with a favorable impression of Corsair's ability to manufacture quality cases. The 550D design is well thought-out with good attention to detail. The overall build quality is appropriate for the price, with the exception of t...

  • Abstract:  We’ve been impressed with what we’ve seen recently from Corsair, and we were glad that the company saw fit to send us a couple more mid-tower cases to pore over and test: the Corsair Carbide 300R compact gaming chassis and the Obsidian 550D quiet case....

  • Despite being the first case tested under our new methodology, there's still a lot to process with the Corsair Obsidian 550D, both in terms of its design and in the data that results from it. By explicitly engineering their enclosure for silent running, C...

  • The Corsair Obsidian 550D provides the best of both worlds. In its default configuration, it is a case targeted to silence, with only three fans and several features to reduce noise. However, if you want to improve cooling performance, you can, as this ca...

  • Push button side panel release. Sound dampening on almost every panel. Magnetic dust filters. Removable drive bays
  • Door can occasionally come completely off hinges rather than just opening
  • It's clear that a lot of thought went in to the Obsidian 550D. If your ultimate goal is quietness and you can get away with a mid-tower, definitely give this one a look....
