  • The Canon SD890 IS is a very capable camera with a few quirks that should be easily outshined (for most people) by its finer attributes, most notably its 5x optical zoom with a focal reach of 185mm; its perfect for long shots that most pocket digital ...

  • AF performance remains a highlight, Clean, vibrant shots, even at higher ISOs, Almost too easy to use, New styling and interface (if you like it),
  • Flash recycle/shottoshot times not improved, Initial price is predictably steep, Lens and white balance could be better, New styling and interface (if you hate it), Canon PowerShot SD890 IS
  • When we reviewed the SD890's predecessor, we concluded that the SD850 was a "stylish, well-built compact digital camera that produces great quality images and color while requiring minimal involvement from its operator." The fact that this description...

  • Optical image stabilization; optical viewfinder; decent photos.
  • Poor shot-to-shot performance; small LCD; awkward design; no optical zoom in movie capture.
  • A solid compact snapshooter, the Canon PowerShot SD890 IS nevertheless disappoints when compared with its predecessors and line-mates.

  • Abstract:  If I had been judging solely on ease of use and picture clarity, I’d have been hard pressed to choose a winner. Because of the excellent zoom capabilities of the Olympus Stylus 1010, I have to give it a slight edge over the Canon PowerShot SD890 IS.

  • 5x optical zoom with Optical Image Stabilisation, sharp images, good noise performance up to ISO 800, looks fantastic
  • Some chromatic aberration issues, power button poorly designed The Final Word With few flaws a lot to like, the IXUS 970IS is another great compact camera from Canon. Its most noteworthy feature is the stabilised 5x optical zoom, but there should be so...

  • 5x optical zoom, Fast burst mode even with flash, Decent image quality
  • Exposure compensation only, Styling wont appeal to everyone
  • Compared to the slick angles and chic lines of recent IXUS, the bubbly, bulbous curves of the Canon Digital IXUS 970 IS have us nonplussed. We hate to judge a camera just on its looks, but the lack of features dont give us much choice. Still, if you...

  • Quality of images up until 800 ISO, 5x stabilized zoom, Optical viewfinder, though not too precise, Excellent macro mode
  • New design that’s not too comfortable, No exposure bar when shooting, No wide angle, No HD format in video
