Low screen resolution, Cited battery life not great, Only Bluetooth 3.0
The new A1 does look the part and, while its spec sheet is clearly designed to hit a precise price point, it's really great option if you want a device that has a 7.9 instead of a 7-inch display. It undercuts the iPad mini by some margin, though does see...

Decent build quality; Surprising amount of power; Low price
Old version of Android; Poor battery life; Lowresolution screen; Bad camera
The Iconia can't match up to the Nexus 7. The screen, power levels, battery life and software will all disappoint....
Solid build quality, Attractively priced, Acceptable battery life
Low resolution screen, Poor cameras, Android 4.2
You might not immediately think of Acer when looking at tablet options, but if you are on a really tight budget and want to give a 7.9in Android tablet a go, it would be worth glancing in the direction of the Acer Iconia A1-830. Its biggest problems are ...

Not as good as the Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire HDX 7in, but Acer's second stab at a budget 7.9in tablet is a good performer for the money...
Very low brightness, Very low battery life, Unimpressive graphics in games, Mediocre cameras
The Acer Iconia A1-830 is inexpensive, well finished and decent for multimedia purposes. But it also has puny battery life and low brightness. All in all, for the price, we think it's an alright buy....
The $179 Acer Iconia A1-830 is stylishly thin and performs consistently smoothly during casual use. With a smooth aluminum back, it feels solid yet comfortable to hold, and it has a microSD card expansion slot
It runs an older version of Android; performance lags if multiple apps are open or if multitasking; the screen resolution is low for today's standards; it no longer offers a micro-HDMI port
The Acer Iconia A1-830 is a sleek and simple tablet for basic use, but you need only spend $50 more to upgrade to a slate with faster performance and better features....

Clean design, 7.9, inch at a great price, microSD
Low screen resolution, Cited battery life not great, Only Bluetooth 3.0
The Iconia A1, or to give it its full name, the A1-830 is a new version of Acer's original A1 Android tablet but still featuring Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean - there's no word on when a newer version of the OS might be available for the device. The Iconia A1-...

Abstract: Acer has updated its A1 tablet with a new version for 2014, the A1-830. It's a subtle upgrade compared to its predecessor, but there are new features that make for a decent and affordable 7.9-inch tablet. First and foremost the build is now metal, with t...
People expecting the Acer Iconia A1-830 to be a cheap iPad mini will likely be disappointed. It looks like an iPad mini, but the Android OS means it's nothing like an Apple tablet. It's also not particularly remarkable in terms of the specs it offers, tha...

Sub-$250 price, Aluminum rear casing, 2MP front cam with face detection
Low resolution screen
Acer has made a decent tablet with the A1-830. It looks like an Apple iPad Mini — which is a good looking tablet — and it will easily perform most tasks without any trouble. Furthermore, the $249 price is attractive...
